WindyBits waves hello. Now wave back!
Chicago has an amazing, strongly entrepreneurial technology scene. Many of yesterday’s Chicago start-ups are high profile companies today. A northside incubator coddled a nacent PeaPod. Orbitz, also Chicago-based, was co-founded by an attendee of a local suburban high school. Many other companies have come and gone, and many more are springing up constantly.
So, where does one go to find out what’s happening in the Chicago technology scene?
Asking this question is what led to founding WindyBits, and founding WindyBits now leads us to many more questions. What is it that you, the technology savvy Chicagoan, want to know? We’ve made our first guesses, and you can see the framework we’ve developed for them on the site:
- Feature Articles: In depth looks at the most recent, or most interesting technology happenings in Chicago
- Events: TECH Cocktail, Chicago Beta, various meetups, and huge Microsoft product launches at McCormick
- 5 Questions: A quick way to get to know a Chicago personality, perhaps a well-known technologist, or perhaps the guy in the cube next to yours
- TechBits: Republished blog and mainstream media links that deal with technology, generally focused on Chicago
- ChicagoBits: Republished blog and mainstream media links that deal with Chicago, generally technology focused
Is this what you want to see?
WindyBits is looking for feedback. It’s early in the process, and we’re high in energy. Hit us hard, hit us now, and hit us later. Please comment on this article. Please recommend blogs or sites you aren’t seeing us link to. Tell us about people or companies you’d like to see profiled. Tell us our font is ugly or our colors are all wrong. What can we do to serve you better?
WindyBits is here, ready to serve. Initially we’ll be posting two feature articles each week: one on Wednesday, one on Sunday. Get the RSS. Next time you wonder what’s happening in Chicago technology, we’ll hope to see you back at WindyBits.
